A world where every child grows up safe, supported, and loved.
Since our founding in 1973, Safe & Sound has grown alongside the families and communities we serve, expanding programs, deepening expertise, and strengthening our commitment that every child deserves to grow up safe, supported, and loved.
In 2025, we served 11,754 individuals across San Francisco, reflecting decades of learning from research, lived experience, and the families who have trusted us through some of their most difficult moments. During the year, we also developed and adopted our 2026-2029 Strategic Plan, creating a roadmap to guide the next chapter of our work.
Our 2026–2029 Strategic Plan builds on this foundation. It is an evolution, not a reinvention. It is rooted in the belief that childhood trauma is preventable and healing is possible, which has guided us for more than fifty years. The plan aligns our work across direct services, public education, capacity building, research, advocacy, and coalition building into a unified roadmap with shared priorities and measurable outcomes.
Change takes time, persistence, and a shared vision of what is possible. This is ours.
We remain steadfast in our mission to prevent and heal childhood trauma, transform systems that cause harm, and build a future where every child has the chance to grow up safe and sound.
