Strengthening the Web of Support: Children, Youth & Family Summit
In November 2025, Safe & Sound, as the backbone agency of the Family Services Alliance, helped convene the first-ever Children, Youth & Family Summit. More than 350 leaders, including representatives from 11 city departments, 80 nonprofit organizations, 20 foundations, four members of the Board of Supervisors, and San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, came together to explore solutions that strengthen support systems for children and families across San Francisco. Through robust discussions and panels, participants advanced a shared vision for a more coordinated and sustainable future for children, youth, families, and the workforce that supports them. By bringing diverse partners together around a common goal, the Summit reinforced the power of collaboration to build stronger futures for generations to come.

Celebration of Parenthood: Strengthening Families Through Connection
Celebration of Parenthood: Strengthening Families Through Connection
In April, during Child Abuse Prevention Month, Safe & Sound hosted a Celebration of Parenthood at Bayview K.C. Jones Park, bringing together client families for an afternoon of connection, joy, and community.
Parents, caregivers, and children enjoyed a day filled with creative crafts, games and activities, music and entertainment, and shared meals. The event also included prizes and giveaways for both children and adults, creating a welcoming space for families to relax, play, and celebrate together.
More than a community gathering, the Celebration of Parenthood reflected Safe & Sound’s commitment to strengthening family bonds, supporting positive parent-child relationships, and honoring the everyday moments of joy that build resilience and connection.

Built Together: Powered by Volunteers
Safe & Sound is grateful to the dedicated volunteers of Order of Malta FOOD Friends, a Bay Area service group whose generosity brings nourishment and connection to the families we serve throughout the year. Through our Monday Community Dinner Program, they prepare home-cooked meals for more than 150 children, parents, and caregivers each month. They also volunteer at parent and family events, helping create welcoming spaces where families can gather, learn, and thrive. Their ongoing commitment is a reminder that something as simple as a warm, home-cooked meal can bring comfort, strengthen connections, and help families feel supported.
Holiday Toy Store: Bringing Joy to Families
Holiday Toy Store: Bringing Joy to Families
For many years, Safe & Sound’s Holiday Toy Store has been a cherished annual tradition that brings joy and relief to hundreds of families during the holiday season. In 2025, more than 300 families attended the three-day event, with parents and caregivers selecting meaningful gifts for over 650 children.
What makes this program truly special is the teamwork from our Safe & Sound staff and wider community that brings it together. Creating this magical experience takes a huge effort across the organization, from receiving and organizing donated gifts to supporting families during their shopping appointments and transforming the space into a warm, welcoming holiday store.
Most importantly, the Holiday Toy Store offers parents dignity, choice, and a moment of joy during a season that can otherwise feel financially and emotionally overwhelming. Families consistently share how meaningful it is to select gifts for their children themselves, making the experience both empowering and memorable.
More than a toy drive, the Holiday Toy Store reflects the heart of Safe & Sound’s mission—ensuring families feel supported, valued, and connected during the holiday season.

Miles of Purpose: The 14th Annual Russian River Ride
In October 2025, a dedicated team of cyclists completed the 14th Annual Russian River Ride, a three‑day, 200‑mile journey from San Francisco to the Russian River and back. What began as a small group of friends committed to Safe & Sound’s mission has grown into a powerful community tradition. The riders and supporters raised more than $95,000 to help provide critical services that strengthen families, support caregivers, and ensure children grow up safe, loved, and supported. Every mile ridden and every dollar raised reflected our community’s shared commitment to building safe kids, strong families, and sound communities.

Blue Skies of Hope: The 2025 Blue Ribbon Celebration
More than 400 supporters gathered at the Palace Hotel in October 2025 for Safe & Sound's annual Blue Ribbon Celebration. Centered around the theme Blue Skies of Hope, the evening highlighted the power of prevention, community, and early support in helping children and families thrive. Through inspiring remarks from CEO Dr. Pegah Faed and a moving story shared by parent advocate Alexis Alexander, guests were reminded of the lasting impact that support can have on a family's future. Together, attendees and sponsors raised more than $1.1 million, providing critical resources to help more children grow up safe, supported, and loved.
